HISTORY
Fashion designer Brooke Sauvage collects different bits and ends from forgotten corners and reconstructs them into wearable art. Inspired by a friend who spent a year committed to zero waste, Brooke stopped using tulle, a material made mostly of plastic, and started designing with more sustainable, upcycled materials.
To challenge herself, she designed a gown made from single-use plastic bags, one of the most readily available pieces of trash. With everyone kind of feeling like a piece of trash in 2022 anyway, it was the perfect look to head out in.
“I wanted to take this thing we desperately want to forget and transform it into something beautiful.”
